Any woman who has ever run for a bus or train in high heels will know they are not the easiest footwear to move at speed in.
But a teenager from Germany has managed to avoid snapping a heel or spraining her ankle and broken a world record instead.
Wearing shiny golden heels, Julia Plecher, from Ruckersdorf, ran 100 metres in 14.531 seconds - five seconds slower than Usain Bolt's record 9.8.
The effort has won the 18-year-old a place in the 2014 edition of the Guinness World Records book.
It was not the first time Ms Plecher had raced in high heels. In 2009, she took part in a 'stiletto race' in Berlin wearing 8.5cm heels - 1.5cm higher than required by the organisers.
